POCATELLO - Calvin C. Dredge, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, June 9, 2000, at Bannock Memorial Medical Center as a result of cancer. Cal was born January 16, 1926, in Malad, Idaho, a son of Jesse H. and Nellie Kunz Dredge. He was raised and educated in Malad, graduating from Malad High School. It was here he began his love for ranching.
On June 6, 1946, he married Miriel Talbot. Together they had two daughters, Susanne and Miriam, both of boise, Idaho. Cal and Miriel were later divorced. He began his ranching career in the Malad area, also serving on many boards of many organizations, including the Idaho Cattlemen's Association and the Idaho Wool Growers Association and several other grazing boards.
On April 30, 1977, he married Alicia Aldana in Rupert, ID. Together they have a son, Frank Joseph Dredge,of Rupert. Cal and Alicia continued to ranch in Rupert and Soda Springs, raising both sheep and cattle. Cal always wanted to be a stockman. He loved the livestock industry, the places his work took him and the people he met. Cal never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.
Cal is survived by his wife, Alice of Rupert; his children, Frank of Rupert; susanne (Val) Jones of Boise; Miriam Dredge of Boise; sisters, Norma (James)Hill of St. George, UT; Elaine (Rosell) Mills of Malad; Ruth (Meryle) Swanson of Mesa, AZ; Rose (Rulon) Ward of Sugar City, ID. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
Rosary was recited on Monday, June 12, 2000 at the Hanson Mortuary in Rupert, ID. Mass of the Christian burial was held on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Henry Carmona officiating. Burial followed in the Rupert, Idaho Cemetery.

HENRY LAVERN GLEED
MALAD - Henry Lavern Gleed, 87, a longtime resident of Malad City, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at the Oneida County Hospital of complications due to cancer.
He was born April 20, 1913, to Henry and Emma Thorpe Gleed. He was the fourth child of nine born to his parents. He was raised in the New Canyon area north of Malad City, where he attended the Devil Creek public school, and Malad High School, and worked on the family farm with his parents and siblings.
He met and married Estella M. Price of the Deep Creek area on June 15, 1932, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. To this union was born three daughters and one son. He and Stella worked and helped run the Price family farm until they later bought the farm from Stella's father, John M. Price. He spent most of his life ranching, raising cattle and breaking horses on the Deep Creek Ranch.
He was an avid horseman and loved to hunt.
He was a charter member of the Malad Valley Sheriff's Posse for many years, where he served as the drill master for six years, and served his community in many capacities as a member of the hospital board, the Oneida County draft board, Oneida County Farm Bureau, and served in leadership positions on the cattlemen association.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served in numerous capacities, and at his death was a member of the First Ward high priest's group.
After the death of his wife, Estella, on Jan. 22, 1974, he married Marie J. Gleed in June of 1974.
They enjoyed life together for 26 years. During these years they spent time as officiators at the Logan, Utah LDS Temple, working with his son, Neal, on the Deep Creek family farm, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Marie J. Gleed of Malad; one son, Neal H. (Rolene) Gleed of Malad; two daughters, Delores (Lorin M.) Talbot of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Mary Beth (Loren) John of Malad; five stepchildren, Dr. Wallace Ellis (Teri Raye) Smith of Centerville, Utah, Robert Burnett (Lori) Smith of Loveland, Colorado, Patricia Ann (Dr. Dennis Rulon) Fairbourne of Orangevale, California, Marlene (Charles Robert) Hermes of Denver, Colorado, Marilyn (Dr. Stephen Blaine) Morris of Salt Lake City, Utah; 31 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Anabelle Williams and Carol Hall Babich, both of Malad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella, his daughter, Nadine, two grandchildren, his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000, at noon in the First Ward LDS Church building, with Bishop Robert G. Crowther officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad Friday evening, July 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday prior to the funeral services.
Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery following the services.
